Cuviello won the faceoff and Fruchterman drew a foul to put the Cavs on the man-advantage. Phan picked up another assist feeding Hoffman for the goal just after the penalty had expired. Fruchterman stole a Titan pass near mid-field and found Yost in the middle of the field. Yost darted through the defense and jumped to put his shot over the goalie for a 6-0 lead. The stunned Titans called their 2nd timeout of the quarter to try and regroup. Magee scooped up a groundball to put the Cavs back on the attack and Solomon found Farr wide open on the left slot. He ripped the shot past the goalie to make it 7-0 Cavs.
After a Titan save, Fruchterman blasted the stick out of the defender’s hands and scooped up the loose ball. He danced around the top of the crease and put another shot by goalie to make it 8-0 less than 2 minutes into the quarter. Cuviello continued his faceoff dominance combining with Stoll to gain possession again. Fruchterman’s skip pass found Hoffman on the right side and he nailed the shot top left corner and it was 9-0. Magee continued the physical play of the Cavs with another check and take away. For the 2nd time in the game the Titan goalie found himself with the ball and Solomon badgering him to get it back. Once again, Solomon won the contest with a stick check to knock the ball loose and then scooped it up and tossed it into the empty goal for a 10-0 lead. Hoffman came up with a groundball out of a scrum and got it to Solomon. He fed Phan across the crease and his shot made it 11-0 Cavs with 5 minutes to play in the half. Farr jolted the ball loose with a hard hit and Magee came up with the groundball. The Titans got the ball back on a turnover but Cameron applied a big hit and got possession back. The Cavs kept possession for most of the rest of the half. It ended with the Cavs up 11-0 and the Titans still looking for their 1st shot of the game.
