Jimmie Jukes 1965-1968 Football, Basketball and Track

Jimmie Jukes, who attended Woodson shortly after Fairfax
County integrated its schools, earned ten varsity letters
(four in track and three each in football and basketball) as
a Cavalier. In football Jimmie received the Metropolitan
Area-Outstanding Back Award from the Washington
Touchdown Club and was named to the All Met team on
which he was honored as Outstanding Back. On the track,
Jimmie exceled in the speed events (individually in the
100 & 220 yard races and on the mile relay) and during
his senior year he earned All-State honors as well as was
selected Most Valuable Player of the Woodson track team. In addition, during his
senior year Jimmie was selected All-State in basketball and was named Woodson’s
Athlete of the Year. Following his graduation from Woodson, Jimmie attended University of Kansas
on a football scholarship. While at Kansas, Jimmie was presented the “Gale
Sayers Scholarship Award,” an honor awarded to the outstanding athlete whose play
most exemplified the style of play established by Gayle Sayers when he attended the
university.
